In June 2015, the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) were awarded a grant from The Rogers Foundation to promote youth arts education in the Valley. The program began in October 2015 and took place at three BGCSNV clubs. Students attending the after-school programs took part in a one-hour session each week, taught by a music educator, at which they learned to play the violin and composed music using state-of-the-art technology. Recitals were held throughout the year where students demonstrated the new skills they learned for parents, teachers and friends. The program’s goal is to spark and nourish an interest in music as these children continue their education. We are excited to continue our efforts with BGCSNV into the 2016-17 season, allowing us to reach even more students with music instruction.
